In previous seasons of Call of Duty: Warzone, the AK74u has been overshadowed by its brothers, the MP5 and MAC-10. The MP5 and the MAC-10 have long been considered among the best SMGs in the battle royale. While this may be true, the AK74u recently received a buff that puts it in stiff competition with both of these weapons.
The AK74u’s buff came in the Season 3 Reloaded update. Raven Software increased several stats of the SMG, including damage range, sprint-to-fire time and the neck damage multiplier. Because of this, many players rushed to try out the AK74u to see if it really can compete with the MP5 or other SMGs. However, some of these players may not have been using the AK74u’s recommended loadout in Warzone.
Best AK74u loadout in Warzone
With the buffs coming to the AK74u, its recommended loadout has changed drastically from previous seasons. Now, players can focus on increasing its strengths without worrying about other areas too much. This means making the gun’s damage range and mobility even stronger.
Of course, the loadout also needs to address any lingering weaknesses that the AK74u has. This is mainly in regard to the bullet velocity, which was nerfed in the Season 3 Reloaded update.

The biggest key to this AK74u loadout is the 9.3″ VDV Reinforced barrel. Not only does it address the nerf to bullet velocity with a 40% increase, but it also increases damage range by 100%. That’s followed up with the GRU Suppressor, giving players the ability to stay off the radar while lowering the gun’s recoil.
Recoil is further managed with the Spetsnaz Grip, which reduces both horizontal and vertical kick. In regards to sprint to fire time, the KGB Skeletal Stock handles this in stride with a 30% increase. Finally, the Spetsnaz 50 Rnd Drum is a perfect middle-ground option that doesn’t come with a huge negative.
With this AK74u loadout, there’s certainly a debate over which SMG is the best in Warzone.
