When Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone integrated in late 2020, there was overlap in the weapon pool. Modern Warfare, the game Warzone is originally based on, featured weapons that were also in the new title, Cold War. This meant there were duplicate weapons in the game, which spawned questions as to which one players should use.

These questions have been answered, for the most part, after content creators and the player base extensively tested each variant. However, one question that some fans still have is regarding the two MP5s. The Modern Warfare version was the first dominant weapon in Warzone and some players don’t want to give it up.

However, the Cold War version is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor, though, and that’s made more evident with the gun’s recommended loadout.

Best Cold War MP5 loadout in Black Ops Cold War

Between the two versions of the MP5, there’s not much competition. The Cold War version is simply a better weapon, featuring better damage and many more uses in Warzone. This doesn’t mean the MP5 has no competition, however.

The big debate currently ravaging the community is deciding between the Mac-10 and MP5 submachine guns. Both weapons are viable in their own way, but coming to a consensus about which to use has been difficult. Even MLB Star Mike Trout is getting in on the debate and has chosen his side.

Although Mike Trout has chosen the Mac-10, the MP5 still features a terrific loadout that won’t let players down.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 9.5″ Task Force
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Ammunition: STANAG 50 Rnd Drum
  • Stock: Radier Stock

As with most SMGs, the best loadout focuses on speed and accuracy. The Cold War MP5 doesn’t have too much recoil, but it still benefits from added control, which is where the Agency Suppressor and Field Agent Grip come in. The vertical and horizontal recoil is reduced with both attachments and the suppressor allows players to stay off the map while firing.

Following those attachments up is the 9.5″ Task Force barrel, which increases damage, range and bullet velocity. Recoil is added but it’s mitigated by the previous two attachments.

The last two attachments are the 50 Rnd Drum, to offer some additional bullets, and the Raider Stock, to increase the sprint-to-fire time by 30%.

Running the Cold War MP5 might not be what Mike Trout recommends, but it’s hard to argue against it with this loadout.
