The Season 4 update in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War introduced a small amount of weapon balancing. While not as expansive as the Warzone side, some weapons and their attachments were changed for better or worse. One of the weapons that received a small buff is the FFAR assault rifle.
In seasons past, the FFAR has been a reliable weapon when used correctly. It features a decent amount of vertical recoil, which turns some players away from it. However, with the right loadout, it can be a deadly short to medium-range AR. The Season 4 update didn’t change its top loadout too dramatically but a new attachment has entered the conversation.
Best FFAR loadout in Black Ops Cold War
The FFAR certainly takes some getting used to in Cold War. The AR shoots straight up in its base form if players take their finger off the aiming stick. As such, it needs to be leveled up to be useful in any capacity. Most of the recommended attachments are fairly high-level, which is another reason some players don’t bother with the FFAR.
The right loadout goes a long way, though. The FFAR’s recommended loadout hasn’t been altered too much from Season 3 but it features a new attachment as a direct result of the Season 4 weapon balancing.

Warzone players will immediately recognize the muzzle attachment. The Agency Suppressor was specifically buffed for the FFAR in Season 4 and now warrants a spot in the loadout. The muzzle’s range penalty was reduced by 13%, making it one of the best muzzle attachments for the FFAR. Players now receive the 75% increase to vertical recoil control while only having a 20% decrease to range.
One of the other negatives with the Agency Suppressor is a decrease in bullet velocity. This is covered by the 21.2″ Ranger barrel, which boosts bullet velocity by 100%. The rest of the loadout is standard for the FFAR and features few negatives. This new and improved Season 4 FFAR should be one of the best ARs in Black Ops Cold War.
