The M1928, also known as the Thompson or Tommy Gun, is an extremely popular weapon in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Fans who have taken the time to level it up know just how dominant it can be in public matches. While it features some high recoil, it has a blistering high fire rate and consistent damage range that makes it a great option in multiplayer. However, like all weapons, the M1928 needs a top-tier loadout to remain one of the best guns.

Though the M1928 might not be as strong as the MP40 SMG, it’s no slouch in the class. It can actually out-perform the MP40 in close-range thanks to its fire rate. Where it falls off is at range, as the recoil isn’t the best when compared to a gun like the MP40. That doesn’t mean the M1928 can’t have a loadout that helps minimize its weaknesses in Vanguard, though.

Best M1928 loadout in Vanguard

The M1928 loadout in Vanguard will feature attachments that benefit both close and long-range abilities. Players won’t want a gun that can’t deal any damage beyond 20 meters but they also won’t want to lose the gun’s prowess in close proximity. This means buffing both recoil control and accuracy along with mobility.

  • Muzzle: No. 3 Rifle Brake
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: CGC S Adjustable
  • Underbarrel: M1941 Handstop
  • Magazine: .45 ACP 100 Round Mags
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Leather Grip
  • Proficiency: Frenzy
  • Kit: Quick

The one attachment slot not in use is the barrel slot. The options for the M1928 all hinder one area too much to warrant a barrel attachment. As for the rest of the loadout, mobility and recoil control are addressed in spades.

Attachments like the No. 3 Rifle Brake, M1941 Handstop and Lengthened all help the M1928 at range. Meanwhile, attachments such as the CGC S Adjustable, Leather Grip, Frenzy and Quick are perfect for running and gunning around the map. If players are still feeling like there’s too much recoil on the M1928, though, they can take off the CGC S Adjustable Stock. This comes with a -2 to initial accuracy and recoil, which might be too much for some to overcome.

Nevertheless, this M1928 loadout in Vanguard is a beast up close and serviceable at range.
