The MG42 is one of three light machine guns in Call of Duty: Vanguard, along with the DP27 and Bren. In terms of overall strength, the MG42 falls right in the middle of the LMG class. The DP27 carries a little more power and mobility while the Bren is weaker across the board. Though the MG42 might not be the best-in-class, players will still need to know its recommended loadout if they want to equip it in Vanguard multiplayer.
Best MG42 loadout in Vanguard
This recommended loadout for the MG42 was designed around its use in the Vanguard beta. Players were able to have some success with it, particularly at medium to long-range given that its mobility isn’t the best. However, Sledgehammer Games could still change things up before the full launch on Nov. 5.
The developer stated that the MG42 could look very different in a months time, as it was looking into weapon balancing for the full release. This could also change up its recommended loadout, as some areas might not need to be addressed. Still, if players want to see what general attachments they should be using on the MG42 to bump up its power, they can look no further.
- Muzzle: Scythe Compensator
- Barrel: Krausnick 450MM B42MG
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: Krausnick S91MG
- Underbarrel: MK6 Para
- Rear Grip: Leather Grip
- Magazine: 8MM Jaeger 50 Round Fast Mags
- Ammo Type: Subsonic
- Proficiency: Tight Grip
- Kit: Fully Loaded
The overall goal of this loadout is to increase the MG42’s recoil control and mobility. These are the two areas it struggles in the most and players must get both under control. The Scythe Compensator, Krausnick barrel and MK6 Para all help with recoil control, making the MG42 much more accurate.
For mobility, the Krausnick stock and Leather Grip perform effectively by improving ADS time. The last aspects of the loadout help to support the other attachments by offering extra ammunition and a faster reload. If players want success with the MG42 in Vanguard, this loadout is their best bet.
