The Houston Outlaws sign Ir1s in free agency
Ir1s joins the Houston Outlaws after a successful season on the Atlanta Reign, reaching the Grand Finals of the Overwatch League. Even though the Reign were swiftly defeated by the Shanghai Dragons in the Grand Final, it was still a testament to the team’s efforts that they made it that far in the first place.
As the next top-tier flex support that came out of North American contenders 2020, Ir1s was part of the team Third Impact and was able to get second overall in Contenders. They didn’t ultimately win Contenders due to Team Doge standing in their way. After his impressive performances, the Atlanta Reign picked Ir1s up towards the end of their 2020 season. However, there were always questions about his overall skill level due to playing overseas with a higher ping. But when 2021 started he was able to play with the team and proved himself as a top talent in the Overwatch League.
Ir1s also had the chance to play with his current Houston Outlaws teammate, Oh “Pelican” Se-hyun during his time with the Atlanta Reign. With the Rookie of the Year winner in 2021, they were able to make a splash in the league with a team that made it to the finals in 2021. The duo has now found their way into the Houston Outlaws roster for the oncoming 2022 season.
Pelican and Ir1s now look towards a new frontier as they join the Houston Outlaws, looking to replicate the same success they found with the Atlanta Reign. They are joined by tank player Shin “PIGGY ” Min-jun, Dante “Danteh” Cruz, and veteran flex player-coach Jacob “JAKE” Lyon.
