Today, March 26, Riot Games has officially revealed the newest League of Legends champion, Gwen: The Hallowed Seamstress. Back in January, the reveal of champion, Viego, had initially teased this new champion. Gwen wields a giant pair of scissors and harrowing abilities to fight other enemy champions across Summoners Rift.

According to previous developer announcements, the champion is slated for the top lane. She looks to be a close-range fighter akin to Fiora.

Gwen’s backstory

According to Gwen’s reveal trailer and previous lore, Isolde, the wife of Viego, created a doll. Isolde was later killed by a pinioned dagger that was meant for Viego. Consequently, the Ruined King went mad trying to resurrect his lost love. The doll then submerged in the sea, lost to time in the grief of her creator’s death. After some time, the doll reanimated and became Gwen, a powerful living doll with a pair of giant scissors on a quest to discover her dark past.

In the lore of the game, the doll’s reanimation is linked to Viego’s attempts to bring Isolde back to life.

Champion abilities

In the short video showcasing the champion’s abilities, Gwen looks to have a similar aesthetic to Viego. She has a spooky blue color scheme and she is also a close-range fighter, like the Ruined King. In the minute long clip, her basic attacks seem to entail a snip or slash from her scissors. Additionally, Gwen looks to have a dash in her kit as well as the ability to make herself immune to crowd control effects.

The names and concrete ability powers have yet to be confirmed. However, it is certain that Gwen will be an ability power fighter and she will use her Hollow Mist abilities in similar fashion to Viego.
