Call of Duty Champs is nearly here, and the community is anxiously waiting to see who will come out victorious. Like most tournaments in Black Ops 4, Champs 2019 is completely up in the air. There are multiple teams who could realistically hoist the first place trophy. However, even though the playing field is wide open, there are still teams who have better chances than others.
In our opinion, the teams that have already won an event this year have the best shot. They know what it takes to win in Black Ops 4 and have more experience than the rest of the field. However, there is one outlier team who has not won an event that we think could be the scariest squad in the tournament.
The best-looking team heading into Champs
As mentioned above, teams that already have an event win under their belt stand the best chance. That’s how it naturally is with any given tournament or event in esports. Still, sometimes getting close to victory time and time again makes a team more formidable than the others. Enter GenG.
GenG Esports have found themselves in two Grand Finals at CWL Anaheim and the Pro League Playoffs. They were defeated by 100 Thieves and eUnited, respectively, but played extremely tight matches.
Along with this, their most recent defeat at the Pro League Playoffs came with some controversy. During the first Hardpoint match, Chance “Maux” Moncivaez suffered from controller issues and could not fix it for the duration of the series. If his controller had worked properly, the outcome of the Grand Finals could have been different.

Why GenG should be the favorite
GenG has been one of, if not the most consistent team in the CWL this year. They have never placed below 8th at an open event and always performed well at the Pro League.
The roster of GenG isn’t rivaled by many at CWL Champs 2019. Owning two of the best AR’s in the game, MajorManiak and Maux, GenG dominates both respawn modes and Search and Destroy. In the last week of the Pro League, they did not lose a single S&D map.
However, much of their success in both modes can be attributed to Dylan “Envoy” Hannon. Rocking the Saug 9MM submachine gun, Envoy tears through every opponent no matter the map or mode. Mike “SpaceLy” Schmale, the player who Envoy replaced, called him “one of the best players in Black Ops 4“.
Of course, they have a long road ahead of them at CWL Champs 2019. As mentioned above, there are a plethora of talented squads who could make a run at the title. However, if GenG performs as they have been at the past three events, it will be hard to stop them.
