The Toronto Defiant have signed Brady “Agilities” Girardi, formerly of the Los Angeles Valiant.
Agilities from Los Angeles…
Agilities has a deep history in competitive Overwatch. He played on team Immortals and landed first place in every competition they played in. When the Overwatch League was announced, they bought the Los Angeles spot and still own the Valiant. Along with great performances for the Valiant, Agilities’ play for Team Canada was top-tier. Even when playing support for his team, he played up to competition, as showcased in this clip from the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

…to Toronto
With the Toronto Defiant now signing Agilities, this makes their DPS line both flexible and completely English-speaking. Agilities was known for Genji early on in his career, but he developed and showed skills on other heroes such as Pharah, Doomfist, and Junkrat. With having hitscan flex Andreas “Logix” Berghmans staying for 2020, along with another exceptional flex DPS player Liam “Mangachu” Campbell on his team, that might make the Defiant’s DPS line the most flexible in the league. Plus, we have already seen coordination from Mangachu and Agilities on Team Canada for three years now.
Just a couple days ago, Valiant teammate Young-seo “KariV” Park was announced for the Defiant. Rumors had pointed to both of these players shifting to Defiant, and this has now come to fruition. This English-speaking team may make more Canadian fans into Defiant fans, as the only other Canadian team is full Korean.
More Canadians on the way?
With Agilities being signed, it seems like there might be more Canadian signings to the Defiant. One that was rumored in the same leak video as Agilities and Kariv was Lane “Surefour” Roberts, but no progression has occurred on that so far. Plus, there was a photo released on the Team Canada Overwatch Twitter page showing their team.
In this picture, every person wearing a hoodie with the text “Canadian Built” or “Home is Toronto” had affiliation with the Toronto Defiant team. Obviously Mangachu and Nathan “KarQ” Chan did, being part of the team since last season. However, look on the far right at support player William “Crimzo” Hernandez. While he has been playing for the Dallas Fuel’s Contenders roster (Team Envy) for a while now, his skill has been shown on the international level. And with Se-hyeon “Neko” Park seeming to be off the team due to his recent tweet, there might be a spot for him on the Defiant’s roster. This is only speculation though.
Either way, the Toronto Defiant is shaping up to be Canada’s team for 2020.
