The two most high-profile frenemies in League of Legends are at it again. TSM owner, Any “Reginald” Dinh, and Team Liquid owner, Steve Arhancet, have been exchanging blows back and forth all evening. In what was likely used as a stunt to rile up interest in tonight’s Hotline League panel, Reginald started the trash-talk with a toxic tweet aimed at Steve’s Team Liquid organization, and his star mid-lane player, Nicolaj Jensen. Steve then fired back with some pointed words of his own. And now, after meeting face-to-face on tonight’s Hotline League (hosted by Travis Gafford on Twitch), the two have decided to put their money where their mouths are. $100,000 of that money, to be exact.

The two owners’ teams face off tomorrow, as TSM and Team Liquid meet in the LCS finals. The series will determine the champions of the North American league for the Spring Split of 2019.

Both teams have storied histories and strong rosters. Both teams have a legendary Dane in the mid-lane. And both teams are helmed by owners who love talking trash.

Friday Fight Night

The action began tonight with a tweet from Reginald. It read:

I can’t wait to crush Team Liquid. They’ve never been able to win anything without buying talent. Bjergsen is gonna crush Jensen and he’s going to choke again. Tired of the PR BS. We’re gonna own them. And if HotShot shows up, we’ll “f” him too.

To which Steve replied:

Andy called it Team Solo Mid because it’s the only position they can afford.

Andy’s shot was likely in reference to Steve stacking his roster with domestic legends like Jensen and Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, and importing vaunted Korean support, Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in. Steve’s retort was likely in reference to the perception that Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg has to carry all the weight for TSM. We went over the exchange in detail earlier tonight, but there likely weren’t any real evil intentions here. It’s probable, in fact, that the trash-talk was just meant to build hype for tonight’s showdown on Travis’ show.

A Big Bet

Now that the two have faced off in person, there’s quite a bit more on the line than just another LCS banner. During tonight’s episode of Hotline League, the two owners decided to wager $100,000 on the result of tomorrow’s match.

Steve laid it down:

Andy, here’s the thing. If you have all this confidence, why don’t you just put your money where your mouth is, alright? I’m 100% serious. My personal money. $100,000 on tomorrow’s match. Seriously, no fucking joke.

And Reginald didn’t hesitate.

Done. We’re gonna stomp you tomorrow.

And then they shook hands.

We’ll see who comes out on top tomorrow. Catch the action at 4:00 PM EDT on the LoL Esports website.
