The VALORANT Champions Collection skin line has raised more than $7.5 million for teams participating at VALORANT Champions, according to VALORANT Esports on Twitter. It was previously announced that 50% of the revenues from the skin sales would go to the 16 teams at the event. This would mean that the bundle has accrued more than $15 million in sales overall. An even split would mean that, as of now, each team would pocket more than $460,000.

The arrangement of crowdfunding additional prize money for participating teams is new to the VALORANT Champions Tour but not for esports in general. Games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive use in-game cosmetics to supplement the prize pool for their major yearly tournaments.
Upcomer reached out to Riot Games and a number of teams participating at Champions to clarify whether any rules are in place about the distribution of the money between the players and the organization. As of the time of publication, Upcomer has not yet received a response.
The Champions Collection will leave the in-game store on Dec. 13. Until then, players can continue to purchase the exclusive collection and 50% of the revenue will still go toward the participating teams. The bundle is 6,264 VP, or about $64, and it includes the Champions 2021 Vandal, Karambit, three Art of Greatness player cards and the “Champion” title. The two weapons in the Champions Collection also have levels. The Karambit has three and the Vandal has four. Both have a “Champion’s Aura” on their highest level (four for the gun and three for the melee weapon) that lights up when players have the most kills in the game.
