Valorant patch accidentally adds unfortunate toggle sprint bug

Riot’s debut first-person shooter title, Valorant, may have only released a week ago, but the developers have wasted no time in implementing much-needed adjustments. Just yesterday, Valorant‘s 1.01 patch introduced several much-needed bug fixes and nerfs. However, it also brought forth an odd toggle sprint problem that has affected players across the board.

From the get-go, Riot boasted about Valorant‘s accessibility, saying it would be playable on even the weakest builds. Expectations are always different from reality, though, and players found themselves experiencing unplayable ping and inconsistent framerates. Therefore, patch 1.01 focused mainly on performance issues and game-breaking bugs. But, as is typical with game updates, with every fix comes more problems.

Stuck at a slow pace

In the patch’s bug mega-thread on Reddit, players have reported a new bug that makes them unable to run. Instead, they’re kept at the slower shift walking pace for the entire game. Furthermore, no matter what key players press, they cannot adjust their movement speed. In particular, the issue seems more prevalent in toggle walk users.

This is by far Valorant‘s most reported issue post-patch, and apparently, it’s been a problem for quite some time. Other gamers have stated that they experienced this problem during the beta, and now they’ve returned to the game to find that it remains unfixed.

Several Reddit users have chimed in, discussing their own attempts to fix this problem. For the most part, the most successful workaround is for players to just not use toggle walk. This may seem like an easy fix, but it’s inconvenient for players who typically use the feature in their normal gameplay. Moreover, it’s disheartening for players to see an oversight like this on one of the most basic of game mechanics.

At the moment, the Valorant developers haven’t released a hotfix to correct this issue. Hopefully, players will see one soon.
