Recently, one Call of Duty: Vanguard player became the first user in the world to unlock both Mastery camos. The player, @zAxiz__ on Twitter, showcased their results on social media. In order to prove the legitimacy of the task, they streamed the entire process live on their Twitch stream.
The camo grind is one of the most difficult grinds in any Call of Duty title. With Vanguard, the process is much more challenging, as players need to complete 20 total tasks for each individual camo across multiplayer and Zombies. There are 20 camos for most of the 38 weapons in the game, meaning players need to put in a massive amount of time to earn each camo in Vanguard.

The Mastery camos, Atomic and Dark Aether, require a ton of time to unlock in their respective modes. Players need to reach max level for most of the weapons and then complete some difficult camo challenges with them. On top of that, some of the challenges are bugged, adding another element of difficulty.
zAxiz was able to complete both Mastery camos in just over three weeks of playtime. However, they couldn’t complete the Panzerfaust because it is bugged they said on Twitter. The Reptilian category in multiplayer is currently not tracking UAV kills. However, they did say that once it’s resolved, they’ll “have the camo within hours.”
Even without the official Panzerfaust Gold camo, zAxiz showcases what a grind unlocking camos can be. Three weeks playing solo to earn every camo in Vanguard is a huge time commitment. They said on Twitter that it took a total of 22 days of playtime to complete the grind. It seems likely they didn’t stop playing much during that time.
Now, zAxiz will have to wait and see if Sledgehammer Games introduces any other kind of Mastery camo in Vanguard.
