Viper Boost Toxic Screen exploit could wreck competitive Valorant

Valorant has been no stranger to weird bugs and exploits in the Closed Beta. Of course, this was bound to occur as Riot Games is using this period to discover these types of problems. The hope is that the beta period will iron out a majority of weird bugs before Valorant fully releases in a month or two. However, the latest exploit concerning Viper and her Toxic Screen ability may take the cake as the strangest exploit yet. Riot Games has yet to comment on the issue, but many would like to see this resolved as quickly as possible.

The “Viper Boost” is the latest Valorant exploit

Just a few days ago, we discovered unintended movement boosts with both Jett and Raze. Essentially, Raze and Jett can use their abilities to propel teammates faster and farther than they are supposed to go. Obviously, this disrupts the timing of rounds and leads to unfair advantages.

Though, the Jett and Raze boosts are nothing compared to the new “Viper Boost.” With this new exploit, players are basically teleported to one side of the map from the other. The player using Viper equips their Toxic Screen ability, and with a well-timed jump, the other player can be launched forward on top of the gas emitters.

Clearly, this is unintended, as it gives the launched player immediate access to any bombsite or other area. Unlike with the Jett and Raze boosts, the player can instantly travel half of the map’s distance. Many are comparing this boost to the “rocket ride” from Fortnite. However, this kind of mechanic doesn’t work in a competitive shooter as it does in a battle royale.

With several boost mechanics now in Valorant, rounds are becoming less and less competitive. Riot Games needs to get on top of this as quickly as possible. Hopefully, we will see a fix in the next patch.
