Voicemod has announced the raising of $8 million in its Series A funding round, led by Bitkraft Esports Ventures. The audio avatar company provides a voice filter that combines AI and digital signal processing technologies to gamers and content creators. The company plans to use the investment to launch mobile applications, work on existing technologies, and further its expansion into the Asian market.

Voice filter for gaming content

Jaime Bosch, CEO & Co-Founder for Voicemod, commented:

We create sound effects that can take gamers and content creators anywhere and allow them to become anyone or anything. We believe that everybody should be able to express themselves creatively through sound so that every experience is amplified. Image and video filters have increased in popularity and Voicemod is bringing the missing piece – a voice filter that enhances gameplay with fully immersive audio experiences.

Unlike other, traditional voice changer applications, Voicemod enables its users to change their voice in real-time. This ranges from adding the effect of being out of breath during an intense battle or background sounds when driving through tunnels in the game. It supports compatibility with popular titles like PUBG, Fortnite, GTA V, Call of Duty: Warzone, and League of Legends. Through this sound integration, Voicemod enables content creators to increase engagement with both the gaming and viewer experience.

$8 million from Bitkraft

Malte Barth, Founding General Partner of Bitkraft, added:

Voice is a fundamental signature of human identity. Being able to alter your voice in digital platforms/games is an important tool to elevate human expression and create greater entertainment experiences.

Voicemod is changing the way we interact both socially on digital platforms and while playing online and the wide customer adoption of the Voicemod’s service proves that the product is driving the future for real-time voice creation and customization.

Bitkraft Esports Ventures first discovered Voicemod in late 2018. It has now generated over 10 million downloads on just its PC version. In addition to existing projects, the investment will also be used toward neural network-based voice and speech conversion technologies to create more realistic voices.

This investment joins others in 2020 that include esports platform Boom TV, mobile game developer Bazooka Tango, and esports venue business Veritas Entertainment.
