Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific has officially released and players who own Vanguard can hop in and experience it now. The new Caldera map is playable and the patch notes from the Season 1 update are live in-game. Warzone Pacific presents an entirely new experience, in terms of gameplay, but fans of the original Warzone will feel right at home. This is, in part, due to the fact that Warzone Pacific has remained on the Modern Warfare engine.
Many in the community thought that, with the launch of Warzone Pacific, the battle royale would become its own application. Previously, it’s been accessible through the Modern Warfare application. As of right now, that has not changed. This means that players are continuing to play on the same engine as they have for the past two years.
This doesn’t have a huge effect on gameplay, but it does mean that Vanguard’s mechanics are not fully integrated with the new season of Warzone.
Warzone Pacific features Modern Warfare movement
The one gameplay area that Vanguard players might not recognize in Warzone Pacific is the movement. While similar, the Warzone Pacific and Vanguard movements are not the same. Instead, the Modern Warfare movement system is in place.
Once again, Vanguard movement is similar to that of Modern Warfare’s, but there are some differences players should know about. For starters, there is no delay on Tactical Sprinting like there is in Vanguard. This means that players can Tac Sprint around Caldera with little to no trouble. Also, slide canceling has returned, although a little more fluid than it is in Vanguard.
Additionally, the classic bunny-hopping and auto-mantling is back in Warzone Pacific. YouTuber JGOD demonstrated these movement mechanics in Warzone Pacific.

Though these are huge changes to the core gameplay of Warzone Pacific, Vanguard players should be wary of them. The movement systems are not exactly the same, which could be jarring for those expecting otherwise. There’s currently no word on whether Warzone Pacific will continue to be a shared application with Modern Warfare or if there are plans to make it a separate application in the future.
Warzone Pacific and Vanguard Season 1 will go live on Dec. 9 for all players.
