The Washington Justice continue their complete overhaul from 2019 with the addition of a new coach. Chris “Bani” Banell has signed with the team for the 2020 season after his release from the Houston Outlaws. The Justice has now added three assistant coaches after releasing their entire staff following last season.

Bani is an experienced veteran of the Overwatch League, playing in the league’s first two seasons. He will provide some much-needed support, something he’s familiar with, to the Justice as they attempt to bounce back from a dreadful 2019 season.

Joining the Justice

This was not a move that many expected, as fans thought Bani would land on another roster. However, the former Outlaw has decided to take on a new challenge as he joins the Justice. As a player, Bani was one of the most popular figures in the Overwatch League.

For the OWL’s first two seasons, Bani was a support player for the Houston Outlaws. However, the Outlaws experienced a huge change in leadership with Immortals taking control. Bani was unfortunately on the wrong side of that turnover, and he was released from the team in early November.

Bani joins the Justice during a time of uncertainty. As mentioned above, the team underwent some serious personnel turnover after Season 2. However, Bani joins a coaching staff headed by former Los Angeles Gladiators coach Seetoh “JohnGalt” Jian Qing. In addition to JohnGalt, the Justice have added Joon “Wiz” Lee Hae and Han “Sup7eme” Seung-jun to the staff.

Bani’s signing should signify the end of the Washington Justice’s coaching search. While the team has a murky future, the addition of Bani should help their roster see more success than they found in 2019.
