Hogwarts Legacy is the next chapter in the Wizarding World created by J.K. Rowling. While the famed author has no direct involvement with the new game developed by Avalanche Studios, her world is still at the forefront. The developers have designed a completely original story set in the 1800s. Players will assume the role of a new student at Hogwarts and take part in every magical activity the castle has to offer. The game has no firm release date as of yet but players are trying to figure out if they will even be able to play the game. To do that, they need to know what consoles Hogwarts will release on.

The consoles Hogwarts Legacy will release on

2022 is a strange time for video game systems. The current generation of consoles is the norm for developers but the past generation still hasn’t been left behind in most cases. A majority of games released today are developed for both PlayStation 4+5 and Xbox One and Series X|S.

Luckily for fans who haven’t gotten their hands on a current-gen console, Hogwarts Legacy will release on both past and current-gen hardware. This includes “PlayStation5, PlayStation4, PlayStation4 Pro, the Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox Series X and Xbox One X,” as stated by the game’s FAQ. Hogwarts Legacy will also be arriving on PC.

The release date for Hogwarts Legacy

As stated previously, the developers have given no exact release date for Hogwarts Legacy. All players officially know is that the game will launch sometime in 2022. This timeframe has been questioned by leakers recently but it seems the game is still on track for this year.

Warner Media CEO Jason Kilar recently tweeted that the company will deliver a large amount of content this year, including a “full slate of highly anticipated games.” The CEO didn’t mention Hogwarts Legacy specifically but this seems to confirm the game’s release timeframe has not changed.

The release date for Hogwarts Legacy aside, players with any past or current-gen console will be able to enjoy it. Fans on PC will need to wait until the developers release the full slate of minimum and recommended requirements before they can figure out if they can run the game or not.
