Whether you missed out the first time, or just want to get another taste you’re in luck because the second Guilty Gear Strive open beta goes live May 13.
When and where to play the Guilty Gear Strive beta?
The second Guilty Gear Strive Open Beta starts on May 13 at 11p.m. EST. It will run through May 16 at 8 a.m. EST. The beta is only available on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5. It is currently available to preload from the Playstation Store.
What characters are available in the open beta?
All 15 launch characters will be available in the beta. This includes I-No and Anji Mito, who were excluded from the first open beta test for Guilty Gear Strive. The 15 characters available include:
Sol Badguy
Sol a mainstay of the Guilty Gear games and the series’ protagonist. His move set includes a bevy of hard hitting strikes and slashes meant to overwhelm your opponent with his signature weapon Fireseal.
Ky Kiske
Ky is Sol’s rival in the Guilty Gear series. Ky’s moveset is built around having a tool for every situation to excel at any range.
May
May is the first mate of the Jellyfish Pirates. Her moves have a nautical theme. Her commands are primarily charge attacks, including the iconic and deadly Mr. Dolphin.
Axl Low
Axl is a fan favorite Guilty Gear character and a time traveler from the 20th century who just wishes to return to his own time to reunite with his girlfriend. His moveset is built off creating space and zoning with his dual chain sickles.
Chipp Zanuff
Chipp is a ninja built around speed. His moveset is very explosive and can output a ton of damage very quickly. However, Chipp’s life pool is extremely low, so players have to be careful not to be caught off guard.
Potemkin
Potemkin is a loyal soldier to the Independent Airborne State of Zepp. He is the series’ resident grappler. He moves slow but once he gets to you you better hope he does not get his hands on you with a Potemkin Buster.
Faust
Faust is a mysterious doctor with a bag on his head. He is also very weird. As Guilty Gear’s trick character Faust utilizes a bunch of moves that can be very hard to pin down or predict and are often comical in nature. In Guilty Gear Strive one of his moves gives you an afro that gives you debuffs.
Millia
Millia is a silent fighter who uses her hair as a weapon. Like Chipp, she is a rushdown character intent of wiping out her opponent’s health as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Zato-1
Zato is an assassin who uses a shadow to take down his foes. In gameplay Zato acts a puppet character, utilizing his shadow, Eddie as his puppet.
Ramethal Valentine
Ramethal is a fighter who uses two giant swords in combat. Usings these swords to keep opponents at mid to long range is vital to winning as Ramethal.
Leo Whitefang
Leo is the king of the United Kingdoms of Illyria. In combat Leo’s primary goal is to lock down his opponent using his rush down attacks and mix up his opponent with his rekkas.
Nagoriyuki
Nagoriyuki is one of two newcomers to Guilty Gear Strive. He is a vampire samurai that can activate a special state known as Blood Rage in combat. While in Blood Rage, his slash attacks become more powerful and have increased utility, but Nagoriyuki slowly bleeds his health away.
Giovanna
Giovanna is the other new character in Guilty Gear Strive. She is an officer tasked with protecting the President of the United States. In combat she acts as a rush down character and uses her wolf spirit Rei.
Anji Mito
Anji is one of the few surviving Japanese people in the Guilty Gear universe. He is a balanced character with options good in any scenario. He also has attacks that can auto block incoming attacks depending on the property of the move.
I-No
I-No is a musician who also time travels. She originally appeared as the final boss of Guilty Gear XX. She uses music note projectiles from her guitar and rush down attacks to keep her foes at bay.
What modes are available in the Guilty Gear Strive Open Beta?
Four modes will be available during the beta. Online matches will be available with changes being made to the lobby system after player feedback during the first open beta. Additionally there will be three offline modes: Versus Mode, Tutorial Mode and Training Mode.
