Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set to release on Thursday. As the release hour draws close, several Pokémon members on Twitter have gone through the game and discovered the shiny rates in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Which Pokémon are shiny locked in Pokémon Legends Arceus ?

Shiny Pokémon are special encounters in Pokémon games that allow players to catch a Pokémon with a different color scheme than they normally have. For example, look at this Shinx with a golden color rather than its typical light blue and black scheme.

These shiny Pokémon are usually difficult to encounter, and typically the chances are 1/4096. Many Pokémon fans will never even encounter a shiny the entire time they play the game. However, some are quite dedicated to finding these shiny Pokémon.

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, just like any other Pokémon game, there are certain Pokémon that cannot be found shiny in the game. This is known as a Shiny lock, and most commonly happens to Pokémon that are encountered through events in the story. Game Freak commonly does this in order to release the shiny versions at a later date. Usually, the releases are part of a special event or gift that is given to Pokémon fans.

Below is the list of Shiny-locked Pokémon so far:

Dialga and Palkia encounters
All starter encounters
Special event Pokémon such as Darkrai and Manaphy

Essentially, any static encounter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is shiny locked. This means that a person cannot restart the game right in front of a static encounter and try and look for a shiny.

Once a player completes the Pokédex with all levels of research, the player will be able to get a shiny charm, which dramatically increases the chances of finding a shiny Pokémon in the wild.
