Shotguns have been somewhat of an enigma throughout Call of Duty: Warzone’s life cycle. They’ve either been overpowered enough to break the game or not even worth using in the secondary slot. In Season 3, there are several great options for players to choose from in this category.

Of course, there’s one option that can be defined as the “best in class.” This isn’t an easy choice, however, as shotguns like the R9-0, JAK-12 and Streetsweeper all make their case. But, if one must be chosen, the JAK-12 features the best all-around stats and most viability in Season 3 of Warzone.

Best shotgun in Warzone

At one point, both the R9-0 and Streetsweeper were considered to be the best shotguns to use in Verdansk. Each of these weapons received nerfs at one point or another, though, leading the JAK-12 to take the top spot. (Raven Software has generally left the JAK alone when it comes to weapon balancing).

The Modern Warfare DLC weapon has the best balance between damage, fire rate and range of any shotgun in Warzone. It’s a jack-of-all-trades weapon, pun intended, that can be used to great effect as a secondary weapon. Enemies in close-range won’t know what hit them if a player decides to pull out the JAK-12.

As with any shotgun, the JAK-12 is best paired with a submachine gun or assault rifle. Something like the RAM-7, AK74u or LC10 is a terrific option; they’re all reliable at longer ranges. The JAK-12 becomes worthless beyond 10-15 meters, however, as any fully automatic weapon will outclass it time and time again. As long as players keep the JAK-12 reserved for close-range encounters, they’ll see immediate success when using it.

While some players will stand by the shotguns of old in Warzone, there’s no better option in the category than the JAK-12.
