Wargaming recently announced World of Tanks Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Premier League. This newly created esports league will include teams from each state and territory in both Australia and New Zealand. HyperX is the official League partner as well as Fortress Melbourne.
Esports Premier League ANZ
The Premier League starts really soon! It will be a 12-week tournament starting on Friday 11 September AEST. Competition will come to an epic conclusion on November 27. Teams will play off for a share in a $10,000 AUD prize pool. As there are teams from each state and territory in ANZ, special in-game colors will be available. Each team will have colors, logos, special “identities,” and broadcast-only camouflage, allowing each person to proudly represent their state or territory. It also makes it super easy for fans to recognize their local competitors. It’s similar to League of Origin run in 2018.
Speaking of teams, everyone has the chance to be considered! All players from Australia and New Zealand are encouraged to sign up. Applications are currently open. They’ll close on August 25, so get in quickly. Participants will be selected based on a trials process. Following trials, there will be a draft of 30 players. Each team will have a draft selection and a captain will be chosen. Teams will consist of five players and one reserve.
League Format
Once all the teams have been decided, it’s time to battle. Ten teams will battle in 5v5 Tier X format for the Premier League. Four rounds will take place over a one hour period. Only Brothers in Arms tanks will be allowed. A win will award a team with three points, draws will gain one point. A loss will mean no points. Nine weeks of fierce competition will rage. As mentioned, there’s a $10,000 prize pool up for grabs, but that’s not all. HyperX will provide all finalists with accessory packs. There are also opportunities for spectators to win with weekly giveaways. You can probably bet some of the new HyperX gear like the Cloud Stinger could be on offer.
