How it works and where to watch

World of Warcraft’s second dungeon one-off tournament of 2021 will feature six dungeons. Four dungeons will be available on the first day, followed up by a fifth dungeon reveal on Saturday. The final dungeon will be shown on Sunday.

Teams will get five hours each day to push keys as high as possible. After Friday and Saturday, the teams with the best scores will advance to Sunday. The World of Warcraft team with the best score will receive the lion’s share of the prize pool.

The Great Push Season 2 will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch starting at 1:00 p.m. ET each day.

As for the casting talent, they will include Alex “Xyronic” Tatge, Caroline “Naguura” Forer, Daniel “AutomaticJak” Anzenberger, Erik “DoA” Lonnquist, Moira “Meeix” Kloss, Peyton “Tettles” Tettleton and Tristan “Dratnos” Killeen.

Reaching the top

The six teams that will play in The Great Push Season 2 include Echo Guardians, Method Sheeesh, Aster.Y, Mambo Jambo, Incarnation and Bonedust.

These World of Warcraft teams earned a place in the tournament by first competing in the Proving Grounds phase of the event. This initial qualifier phase involved two keystone combinations and pushing as far as possible within the tournament realm.

The Proving Grounds took place between Dec. 3-5 and involved more than 7,500 teams.

World of Warcraft esports

Earlier this year, Blizzard had its inaugural tournament for The Great Push. The event was introduced as a way to grow World of Warcraft esports. In an interview, associate product manager and Mythic Dungeon International Lead Adrian Archer-Lock provided insights about the competitive World of Warcraft scene.

“We thought there was more opportunity to grow out the breadth of that,” Archer-Lock said, referring to World of Warcraft’s Mythic Dungeon International format, competing regions and broadcast changes. “And so last year, especially, we spent a lot of time thinking [about] the new expansion, with Shadowlands, and just in general—what could be some other fun opportunities with WoW esports to kind of expand that.”

He also spoke about the sense of progression involved with the different formats.

“It’s something that is really core to players in World of Warcraft,” Archer-Lock said.

In addition to catching all the action over on the official YouTube and Twitch channels, The Great Push Season 2 can be watched in German, French and Spanish.
