Carrington “Wrath” Osborne won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at Off The Rails in Austell, Georgia on July 21. Hosted by Fly Society, Off The Rails took place at Six Flags Over Georgia. Tournament attendees were granted admission to the theme park at a discounted price.
Wrath advanced out of pools without any difficulty. He dropped his first game of the tournament in top 32. Still, he emerged victorious in that set, beating Asido “Neos” Nail 2-1. Wrath proceeded into top 8 after a dominant 3-0 win over Griffin “Fatality” Miller in Winners Quarters.
Wrath’s strong performances continued throughout top 8. He beat Antony “MuteAce” H in Winners Semis and Andrew “ScAtt” Huntley in Winners Finals. Wrath overcame MuteAce once more in Grand Finals in order to take 1st at Off The Rails.
Despite his impressive results in Smash 4, Wrath has not yet had a national breakout in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Off The Rails is easily Wrath’s biggest Smash Ultimate win to date. Previously, he has placed 9th at Ultimate Gamer Miami, 17th at MomoCon 2019, and 33rd at CEO 2019. He has beaten players like Markeis Ross, Sajhmori “saj.” Dunn, and Randy “RFang” Fang.

MuteAce did quite well at Off The Rails considering the circumstances in which he found himself. MuteAce was unable to sleep the night before top 16 because the air conditioning in his hotel room was broken. As a result, he was running on about an hour of sleep during his run to 2nd place.
MuteAce advanced into top 16 in the first place by defeating Chukwuemeka “Mekos” Anazia. He made it to top 8 by beating Kolawole “Salt One” Aideyan. After dropping a set to Wrath in Winners Semis, MuteAce began a respectable run to Grand Finals. Along the way, he won sets against Vincent “Vinny G” Ghiroli, Christian “Peabnut” Londono, and ScAtt.
After an early loss to Neos, Vinny G began one of the longest losers runs of Off The Rails. He advanced into top 16 with wins over Toriano “Toast” Warren and Shane “Newk” Newkirk. Vinny G continued by taking sets off of Mekos, Alexis “Goblin” Stennett, and Brett “8BitMan” Esposito. He even took MuteAce to game five before finishing his run in 5th place.
