From zero to hero, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War AK-47 is turning heads in Warzone Season 3. Raven Software has buffed the AK-47, while nerfing other assault rifles like the FFAR. As a result, a Warzone loadout has surfaced for the Black Ops AK-47 that turns it into a menace on the new Verdansk ’84 map.

Since the Cold War and Warzone integration, the Black Ops AK-47 has taken a back seat to other rifles. Weapons like the FFAR, AMAX and AUG have reigned supreme during different stages of the meta. However, with the Season 3 rebalancing, the AK-47 is primed and ready to take over the meta with this loadout.

Best Cold War AK-47 loadout in Warzone

The differences between the Modern Warfare and Cold War AK-47 are relatively negligible but players have now taken a liking to the latter. It featured a fair amount of recoil when it was first introduced to Warzone though, making it a niche part of the meta.

With Season 3, that recoil has been reduced, meaning players can focus more on damage and speed when designing its loadout. Thanks to recent YouTube videos by analytical Warzone creators, a preferred build has surfaced for the Cold War AK-47.

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Barrel: 20″ Spetsnaz RPK Barrel
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Ammunition: 45 RND
  • Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap

The overall goal of this loadout is to turn the Cold War AK-47 into a close replacement to the Season 2 FFAR. By using attachments that increase damage and mobility, the AK-47 can outclass many SMGs at close range while still maintaining use at medium range.

For the loadout, attachments like the 20″ Spetsnaz RPK Barrel help bring a powerful punch to the AK’s firepower. This, paired with the stealth attributes and recoil reduction of the GRU Suppressor, are integral parts of this loadout.

As for the mobility side of things, the Serpent Wrap and KGB Skeletal Stock increase both aim-down-sight and sprint-to-fire times. These attachments almost turn the Cold War AK-47 into an SMG-AR hybrid.

For the recoil-wary, the Spetsnaz Grip underbarrel can replace the Serpent Wrap, if keeping things steady is more of a concern. Overall though, this is a solid AK-47 loadout for players seeking an aggressive assault rifle option in Warzone Season 3.
