Pokémon Legends: Arceus is out and it’s an instant phenomenon, with several people praising the game as a way of enjoying the saga in a novel way. And, as in every Pokémon game, there are Shinies.
Whether you are a player who simply would like to have your favorite Pokémon in Shiny form, or if you are a collector of rare Pokémon, this guide will explain how Mass Outbreaks work, as well how to increase your chances of capturing Shiny Pokémon that appear in Arceus.
Methods to increase the Shiny Spawn
- Base Shiny rate: 1/4096
- Dex Research Level 10: 1/2048 (i.e. double the chances)
- Dex Research Perfect: 1/2048 (double the possibilities)
- Shiny Charm: 1/1365 (triple the possibilities)
- Mass Outbreak: 1/158 (25 times more possibilities)
These conditions are ACCUMULATIVE. That is, in case of having Dex Research Level 10 and being in a Mass Outbreak, your chances would be increased to 26 times more.
Many of these conditions must always be accumulated, as it can be the case of Dex Research Level 10 and Dex Research Perfect, since it is not possible to get them separately.
The most feasible method to increase Shiny Spawn is to use Mass Outbreaks, and it may not be profitable to get the other methods.
Step 1 (optional): Buying/crafting necessary items
Buying and crafting items is not absolutely essential in increasing Shiny Spawn but you can facilitate the process with these recommended items:
- The best Poké Balls that you have
- Stealth Spray
- Golden Raspberries
It is important to carry many Poké Balls. The better they are, the easier the task of capturing Shinies will be. For this method, you must capture all the Pokémon that appear in the Mass Outbreak because, as you go on capturing them, new ones are appearing with a much greater chance of Shiny appearance than usual.
Using the Stealth Spray before entering will make it more difficult for Pokémon to detect you, which is useful in preventing their escape. For example, once Abra escapes, you can’t catch it again!
Throwing Golden Raspberries is another great idea. The Pokémon will go to eat the berry and you can easily approach it from behind to throw a Poké Ball at it.
Step 2: Turn up the volume
When a Shiny Pokémon appears, the game emits a peculiar and easy to identify sound, and stars appear around the Pokémon.
Step 3: Search for the desired Mass Outbreak in Arceus
If you’re looking for a specific Shiny Pokémon, the process is simple: Find the Mass Outbreak of the Pokémon you want in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. To do this, we must understand how these work.
Mass Outbreaks only appear once you have completed the main story, so getting Shinies in the beginning of the game will not be an easy task. You only need to move from one area to another to get new Mass Outbreaks. If you have two Mass Outbreaks at the same time, you should save before traveling to one of the two desired areas. This way, you can check if a Shiny is in one of these. If there isn’t one, restart the console and go for the other Outbreak. There is no way to go from one Mass Outbreak in an area to one in another without resetting the others.
When you find a Mass OutBreak, for as long as you stay in the zone, it will not disappear. When traveling from one zone to another, or to the village, the mass outbreaks will change. However, they may appear in the same place. Even if the Mass Outbreak is of the same Pokémon, those that appear in the zone will be different. So, if a Shiny previously appeared, it will not appear again if you travel to a different zone.
To find your ideal Pokémon, you must travel from one area to another while looking at the map for new Mass Outbreaks.
Step 4: Save at a camp when you enter your desired Mass Outbreak
This step is necessary if you are looking for a specific Pokémon. If you travel to the desired area and save without go out, you can reset and the zone will be there again.
It is important to save before checking the Mass Outbreak because if you save in front of the zone, the Pokémon wont change although you reset the Nintendo.
Step 5: Save when a Shiny appears
In the other Pokémon games, you could find a Shiny. But, if you saved and turned off the console, the Shiny would no longer be a different color when you turned it back on. In Pokemon: Legends Arceus, this does not happen, so you should take advantage. of it!
How can I unlock the Mass Outbreaks in Arceus?
Mass Outbreaks only appear once you have completed the main story.
